Who WE ARE
The name OPALUS Legal is derived from Opal, the gemstone for the birth month of our principal and founder, Michelle A. Shepherd.
At OPALUS Legal, we are committed to delivering effective, high quality and innovative legal representation to our clients in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
We understand that the traditional way of doing things is not always best, which is why we bring a new approach to the provision of legal services and how we manage clients’ matters. We use technological innovation to improve the quality of client services and to reduce legal costs. At OPALUS Legal we aim to develop personal and friendly relationships with our clients while helping them to find effective legal solutions which address both their current and future needs.

Meet Michelle A. Shepherd
Michelle A. Shepherd is the Principal and Founder of OPALUS Legal.
Michelle obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Law, and a Bachelor of Laws, both with Honours, from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. In 2015, she obtained her Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School and was admitted to the Barbados Bar. Michelle began her legal career as an Associate Attorney within a well-established law firm on the Island, where she found her passion for service and gained valuable knowledge and practical experience in her specialized areas.
Michelle is also an Affiliate and Student member of the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners (STEP).
In 2019, she founded OPALUS Legal in response to increased global demand for modern, technologically savvy legal services. A cornerstone feature of her mission through OPALUS Legal is redefining the traditional approach to legal practice to better serve her clients.
Michelle balances her passion for law and entrepreneurship, with her strong dedication to her family. She also enjoys fitness, travelling and cooking.
